I was recently able to watch the Frontline Program, The Suicide (sic) Plan and need to correct an incorrect statement:
Regarding the relatively short section about Compassion & Choices which featured Barbara Coombs Lee and our own Client Support Volunteer, Monty Berke, MSW, (both of whom were excellent) the statement that the Final Exit Network (FEN) was started by “radical members of Compassion & Choices” is false.
FEN was started by a group of people, including some board members of End of Life Choices (formerly the Hemlock Society USA) and others who were strongly opposed to the merger of EOLC/Hemlock and Compassion In Dying in 2005 because the new organization, Compassion & Choices, would limit its provision of information about aid in dying to terminally ill people.
