Booth Gardner was much more than just the public face of the Initiative 1000 Campaign. Although initially he would have preferred a law that would make it possible for someone with Parkinson’s disease to access aid in dying, he nevertheless committed fully to the passage of I-1000. His high profile, prodigious fundraising efforts, public speaking (which was very challenging due to Parkinson’s), as well as the leadership provided by his long-time friend and associate, Laird Harris, all played a significant part in our victory in Nov. 2008.
