Interim Medical Director – Contract

Part-time (about 0.5 FTE)

EOLWA is seeking an Interim Medical Director to provide continuity of medical leadership for approximately five months, beginning November 1, 2026, while our current Medical Director is on parental leave. The Interim Medical Director will step into the ongoing work of the role with about 1 month of ramp-up time, ensuring EOLWA’s provider network, client support, and medical education activities continue without interruption.

The Interim Medical Director is knowledgeable about end-of-life care, Washington State laws, and care systems, and has a personal commitment to EOLWA’s mission. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, system-minded, and flexible, with the ability to quickly understand and sustain existing programs and relationships.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience with Medical Aid in Dying (MAID), is comfortable mentoring colleagues and coordinating care and services for patients, and can communicate clearly and directly with providers, encouraging them to support their patients at the end of life, including MAID and VSED (Voluntary Stopping of Eating and Drinking).

This is an interim, bridge role focused on maintaining stability and momentum in EOLWA’s medical/provider network functions.
